Bexleyheath, Kent · since 1978
I was 16 when David Gilmour backed my first professionally produced demo tape.
That tape reached Terry Slater at EMI, and EMI signed me. In 1978 Wuthering Heights, inspired by Emily Brontë's novel, spent four weeks at number one in the UK, and I became the first woman to top the UK chart with a song I wrote myself.
Ten studio albums followed: The Kick Inside and Lionheart in 1978, Never for Ever, The Dreaming, Hounds of Love, The Sensual World, The Red Shoes, Aerial, Director's Cut and 50 Words for Snow. In 2014 I played Before the Dawn, 22 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, my first live shows since 1979.
The designs here come out of that music and its images: a Cloudbusting sunset, red ballet shoes on a stormy sea, black-and-white portraits, engraved line art and blackletter type. Each one comes on a tee, a long sleeve, a crewneck and a hoodie, with kids' and youth sizes too.
Four things that go into every Kate Bush order.
