Hounds of Love, Running Up That Hill and Before the Dawn
Two songs from one album, a second life decades later, and 22 nights on a London stage. This post is about Hounds of Love and what came after it.
What is Hounds of Love?
My fifth studio album, released in 1985. It went to number one in the UK. Two of its best-known songs are "Running Up That Hill" and "Cloudbusting", and the second has its own design in the shop.
How did Running Up That Hill do?
In 1985 it reached number 3 in the UK and number 30 on the US Hot 100. Then, in 2022, it was used in season four of Stranger Things. On 17 June 2022 it went to number one in the UK, and it reached number 3 on the US Hot 100, higher than it ever climbed the first time.
What was Before the Dawn?
In 2014 I played Before the Dawn: 22 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, from 26 August to 1 October. They were my first live shows since 1979.
Which designs go with this era?
- Cloudbusting: the song title in big curling letters, with "The Music of Kate Bush" over a red, orange and violet sky and a dark machine silhouette on a hill.
